Yeah it certainly does look like Bill! It also might explain why we can't quite put a specific scene in mind since we're only thinking of the Stefan/Caroline ones haha.

I remember when Candice wasn't' that big of an advocate for Steroline during 4/5 and felt that they should just be friends and it made sense at that point in the story before Caroline was made to reveal any romantic feelings for Stefan. I also liked how Candice viewed Klaroline realistically, for what it was. She never exaggerated the relationship of Klaus and Caroline and made it out to be this awesome romance that didn't have any flaws.

So it's just kind of nice how Candice seems to always be aware of where her character and story is, and just the story in general. Despite her character of Caroline being an advocate for Stelena, Candice herself was a Delena fan. So basically, yeah I pretty much enjoy it when it feels like the actors are on the same page as to where their character is on the show.

Forgot to mention this point but to add to my previous post she could have easily said if it doesn't work out with Stefan there's always Matt/Tyler or something. Yes Caroline did have history with them in the past so it's not an issue of it being some random out of left field pairing, it's mainly the issue of how Caroline's character where she is right now, has feelings for/is in love with Stefan and the characters of Matt/Tyler have been shown to move on and there's really no lingering feelings between these characters anymore that the show cares to address.

Sometimes I wonder if there's even a point to analyze characters and scenes and really go in depth in regards to development when it seems like someone holds up one of those lights from Men in Black and erase everyone's memories of conversations that took place.

Caroline voices her concerns about Stefan not informing her about Enzo, reinforcing the fact of how their friends and tell each other things and felt that the reason Stefan didn't tell her was because he didn't trust her as much as Elena. But Stefan says it's because he didn't want Caroline to think any less of him. Okay. That was established. That's a little bump in the relationship that was overcome, something that they talked through and came out understanding each other's point of view a bit better. But flash-forward to now, Stefan keeping what he learns about Valerie as a secret and it's like, did this conversation even happen? Why are you going into old habits? Why be so secretive with someone you've been comfortable with before you two were even romantic? It's just odd and OOC. Like it doesn't matter what these characters say, at some point, JP is just going to write whatever the heck she wants and you can never count on characters really being consistent at all. But now it's something we have to accept as canon, that Stefan is just this fickle character when it comes to romance, goes with whatever is convenient for him. Of course that's speculation and headcanon until a character actually comes out and accuses him of such, so until then it just comes off as more OOC than anything.

Steroline's relationship has taken a bit of a left field. They had established a friendship in season 2 and have stayed strong friends up until they finally got in a romance. I don't think a romance was ever really in the works, because of the triangle obviously, but it made sense when the two got together.

Caroline was into Stefan since season 1 before he dropped the bomb of them never being together. And it always felt like Caroline getting super defensive when it came to Stefan and him being hurt by Elena meant a bit more than friendship. On the flip side with Caroline, that's when we see Stefan actually lighten up. Caroline pokes fun at his broody and seriousness and Stefan becomes less of a stick in the mud who doesn't want to dance and just lets loose.

This sudden Valerie relationship was not the type of angst that Steroline needed. Their angst should have been centered on things like the scene above. Their own securities about themselves and their other relationships. Both Stefan and Caroline had been in long, committed relationships that ended (Stelena and Forwood) and they have individual issues to overcome like Stefan and his blood control/ripper. I still can't believe that heart to heart where Caroline stated that if he ever lost control, she'd make sure to bring him back.

Steroline should have been the opposite of Delena in a way, while outside factors like the sire bond or people telling them they weren't right for each other type deal, Steroline feels like it should have been focused on more internal issues, them being their own worst critics/enemy type thing since there's really no one in their ear going, 'You two shouldn't be together.' so it'd be more like them thinking they don't deserve each other/not right for the other. Stefan's psyche of wanting to be seen in the best light even if he has to hide the truth verses Caroline's need to be in control, just the little negative things like that to help each other overcome. There's good angst and then there's just unnecessary angst.

Got to love when fans ask JP questions about nonsense happenings in her own writing. 'No reason' she says. Lol I can imagine this being her response to any dumb OOC moment that takes place with a character. She just does things for drama or shock value or plain convenience.

This whole thing is so a** backwards. They were so sensitive to make sure Stefan didn't move on with Caroline too fast, and had this slow build for weeks before the first kiss - then she turned off her humanity and they had sex which took the romance out of their first time (if I'm remembering the timeline correctly). Now with all the flashbacks/forwards, they've broken them up and thrown him with Valerie, but since the actual timeline before he moved on was 1 year and it's been 3 years since he's seen Caroline, his fans are supposed to be OK with that? I'm guessing that now we are back in present time, they'll try to put them back together again - I'm not convinced Steroline is completely finished. It feels silly to go through all of that to just end it. 

They never actually got closure, so I'm guessing there are still feelings and Ric hinted that Caroline said yes to his proposal because of the girls (even if it's not completely true, he mentioned it for a reason). 

I don't know. I feel bad for anyone that was actually on the Steroline train, because in my opinion, the whole setup and outcome has been awful so far. 

As for JP and her remarks, I feel like she's always playing games with us and she enjoys it, lol.

Yeah the development of Steroline just got really screwed, JP just left this relationship high and dry without any warning. Inserting Valerie into the Steroline dynamics felt unnecessary, even then I didn't think that JP would actually have these two be in a relationship with each other. I thought it'd just be some angst for Steroline because Caroline always felt insecure when it came to Elena who Stefan was with first. So introducing Valerie as the girl who took his virginity and almost had a child with him, I thought it was to show how those details didn't matter to Stefan and that he saw Caroline as who he wanted to be with still. But that didn't pan out as I expected lol.

Valerie referring to Stefan as her boyfriend just felt really odd, I'm tired of JP using time skips justify the relationships so that she doesn't have to bother showing us anything on screen. Stefan moving on to Valerie feels odd because JP had him say in the 6x22 finale how he'd wait for Caroline when she was iffy about starting a relationship with him in the first place. Now we have him traveling with Valerie and kissing her like it's nothing lol. This is just so inconsistent and we can't count on anything development wise. I'm glad that JP never pulled a stunt like this with DE.

From some posts I've seen, most Sterolines feel like Valerie is only a distraction so they don't seem too bothered about him being with her since they don't really consider it as him moving on. I don't get why Valerie would even be with Stefan knowing that he didn't properly have any closure with Caroline, she literally just walked in on the scene and wanted to snatch him up again as if time stood still from the last time they saw each other. Then there's JP's post about us seeing how much he'll miss Caroline in the next ep. I don't know if this is going to be in the romantic sense or friend wise since it seems like they're hardly communicating at all now. Will Valerie assume that he still has feelings for Stefan and break up with them? Or continue to root for Alaric and Caroline's wedding to hurry up? It's honestly just a roller coaster and like you mentioned I'm glad I'm not as serious about Steroline as I am about Delena, the only couple where I'll flip tables if they aren't endgame.

I nearly forgot Stefan said the 'turn into something even better' line. But of course since Stefan dies, we don't get that. Only DE gets foreshadowing that actually goes anywhere, SC just plays second fiddle. Also it's funny to me that someone else noticed how Stefan doesn't really talk, it's frustrating and just convenience. I also hated that when it came to Delena as well in some circumstances. I feel bad for those that ship SC as their one big pairing of the show and nothing else (since most are Stefan or Caroline stans) as they are not getting any payoff of happiness once the finale hits. Even worse if Bonenzo gets it over them as well.

What I’m most upset about is that the “could turn into something even better (than true love)” prophecy will be left unfulfilled. Maybe it’ll be implied in a round about way, but that won’t be enough for me.

This is especially true considering stefan’s word limit. And when he does speak he speaks in riddles. Ugh… And what I need is not meta but clear as day story and dialogue.

I forgot a good majority of these things but it proves even more why it feels pointless to actively root for SC to have things resolved when JP has never even bothered to do as much in the past with this relationship. You'd think going from friends to lovers should be a smooth transition of trust and understanding, instead JP has their romantic relationship come off worst than how they were as friends.
