She was awesome in Season 1. Except for the fact that she wouldn't own up to her own faults with the whole Damon thing. She blamed it all on him and made herself look like a complete victim. Other than that season 1 and part of season 2 I loved her! It was the end of season 2 and all of season 3 that i wanted to slap her but I felt that they were making her lean toward Stefan to open up a future romance between the characters. It was just way too over done for there not to be some underling meaning. If the characters ever got together it could't come from left field. It's been sort of building. Know what I mean?

Yeah and they definitely have the chemistry, way more than Tyler or Klaus ever had with her so it could be a good thing.

Yes! I agree! I think Stefan and Caroline belong together. Not Elena! Not Tyler.

This is why I hate Stefan and I don't think I can ever really like him: "Why are you trying to save him? Elena he's never going to change. Don't you see that he's never gonna to change."
Stefan has no clue about his own brother, what makes him tick, or who he is. He has no concern for his emotional well-being which he could affect greatly if he actually cared. They may as well be strangers. The only reason he even tries to keep Damon alive is so HE won't be alone...selfish pathetic loser.

I mean he had the balls to tell Damon that Elena wasn't his problem anymore only a few episodes back. He doesn't love Elena as far as I'm concerned, not based on the things he says and does. But he didn't have Damon to 'fix' his screwup this time did he? He got Elena dead...dead...dead

This means I'll have to moderate the anti-Damon one when someone makes it...oh boy...thanks alot. Hopefully these won't become a big problem. I said how much I despise Stefan I think pretty well in the D&E thread and the Debate thread I made. But in case you missed it, I despise Stefan. He's a lying, manipulative, whiny, brooding, sarcastic, jealous, hypocritical and mean manchild. He's too lazy to even protect his own girlfriend. He treated her like dirt and let's her go off trying to kill herself because he's too much of a wimp to stand up to her. That's not love as far as I can see. And this is the guy that shoved vampire blood down her throat and terrorized her into thinking he was going to kill her on the same spot her parents died, all to win his pissing contest with Klaus. Afterwards he gave some sniveling excuse that he knew was a big fat lie about how he lost her when he left town. When Klaus de-compelled him, he could have gone back to Elena, but he chose not to. He also wouldn't tell her about the deal he made with Klaus so she kept chasing him all over the place putting herself and everyone else in danger. And when he finally decided he wanted her back, it seemed more so Damon wouldn't get her. He never did one thing to try and make up for all the hell he put her through, and even gave her conditions she had to meet before he would deign to take her back. And since no one would dare say this to pompous self-righteous dick, I can tell him why Elena didn't call him for help. It's because she knows he won't save her and Damon will. She can blah blah blah on about how Stefan respects her choices, but when she needs help, she calls Damon because he'll do what needs to be done to save her and Stefan would put her being mad at him before saving her life.

The only time you can tell he actually actually has some kind of deep emotions for Damon is when Damon's life is in danger. Otherwise, pretty much every word out of his mouth to Damon is an insult. He seems to get immense pleasure in putting Damon down and making him feel like he's nothing compared to Stefan. Again, this is an area where a greater exploration on why Stefan behaves that way to Damon is warranted. There's been a few petty comments Stefan has made to others that suggests that he may feel inferior to Damon and the only way he can feel superior is by making Damon feel inferior. And again, the writers probably will never do it because it would tarnish the image they're trying to sell Stefan as. Which is a pity, as it could add some much needed depth to the Stefan character.

I would too but I think if he does he will be easily forgiven and when Klaus and Caroline happens everyone will be celebrating yet Klaus did more to Caroline and Elena than Damon EVER did and they literally tear Damon apart! ...Cough JENNA.... Cough! It is kind of forgive and forget on the show. They'll give him a pass for the here and now if he decides to help out but come the future, if he does something 'out of line', they'll throw a past transgression in his face like they usually do with Damon unless that's something unique/exclusive to Damon. Damon has paid in spades for the wrongs he's done to the group (saving their lives time and time again, especially Caroline) but he gets thrown under the bus every time one of them wants to throw a fit Even now, beginning with s4, Stefan's being written like season three never happened. I knew he'd be free passed for anything he did during The Ripper time, but i also thought there'd be some token redemption of him making up to everyone for what he did. What I never thought would happen was everything he did would be swept under a rug and everyone would act like it never happened. Everyone acting like season three never happened and he's back to being the saint of Mystic Falls. Even though he let their friend Elena die. He got free passed with the lamest excuse ever given - he was respecting Elena's choices! So, he left his girlfriend to die and no one forced him to do that. That was HIS choice. But then, he had the nerve to get all self-righteous prick with Matt telling Matt he had to earn the right to be saved!? Why does Matt have to earn the right to be saved? When did he ever earned the right to be forgiven or anything else? Everything is always handed to him on a silver platter. So where does he get off telling someone being eaten up with guilt they have to earn the right to be alive. Of course, Matt's so eaten up with guilt, he'll probably feel he deserved to be treated that way. It's not surprising the crap this pompous self-righteous dick pulled on Matt. It's the same game he's always pulling on Damon. Acting all morally superior while making Damon feel he's something he sc****d off the pristine bottom of his shoe. I love how this show can hold Stefan up as the poster boy for being a well-adjusted vampire with absolutely no irony. I thought I was going to explode when he came out with lines like "let's leave the murdering to Damon" and Caroline told him to write a book on how to be a vampire!? She helps us think Stefan is great and not the biggest hypocrite whenever he teaches any self control or happy lesson. Just WOW!! It's like this show exists in two alternate universes where in one Stefan has murdered more people than everyone on the show put together (except Klaus and Rebekah) and in the other, Stefan is a lily white Yoda-like figure who dispenses wisdom, goes holier-than-thou on his brother and has generally had the slate wiped clean by everyone, even Bonnie, who supposedly hates vampires who kill innocent people. These writers !!

The Writers do seem to want us to forget S3 Stefan, or most of it. They backed out of what the Ripper was supposed to be early on (tearing people to pieces) and the stuff after that seems to be done away with in the continuity cause I doubt anyone will mention Stefan's Ripper deeds again. Look at Caroline propping him up like none of it happened and Elena getting back with him like it wasn't a red flag to step back and maybe rethink the Stefan angle. She has these reservations about Damon based mostly off the crap that Stefan has told her but she sees Stefan first hand in this state and she still hooks up with him again like nothing happened? f*** that noise.
Stefan has become such a horribly written character and this 'safety' bubble they've created around him where his reasoning for stuff is justified or he's absolved of any wrongdoing is *AMAZING* given the treatment Damon gets who has done more good for the gang.

There's a real inequality to the way the writers write the Stefan character and the way they write the Damon character. In short, what Stefan can get away with without even a slap on the wrist, Damon can't. It's a big part of the reason a great portion of the audience isn't endeared to Stefan. Always being the Chosen One doesn't endear you to the audience. Neither does having people falling at your feet telling you how wonderful you are. While that type of writing may be great if you're a Stefan fan that can't stand anyone saying anything bad about your boy or for anyone to treat him badly, it isn't the way to create a great character. Watching a character suffer the consequences for their actions helps the character to grow and evolve. It makes the character deeper and richer. It makes a character become three-dimensional and real. Stefan getting a free pass for his actions and never called on them has kept him a one dimensional character. For example, the writers never really done an in-depth exploration of just why Stefan is a ripper. Supposedly, becoming a vampire amplifies what was always there inside you as a human. So that suggests there was something in human Stefan's personality that made him become a ripper as a vampire. If the show did an honest exploration of why Stefan really became a ripper it could give the character some much-needed development and depth, but it might also tarnish the golden boy gleam the show insists Stefan has. Bottom line is Damon is a more popular and more loved character because the writers have done an honest exploration of his character. They don't feel the need for Damon to always come out on top or to be the one who gets chosen and it's endeared Damon to the hearts of the audience. A story described Damon as the heart and soul of the show and he is because no other character on the show gets put through the emotional wringer the way Damon does.

Oh look Stefan's keeping something from Elena again.
The only scenes I enjoyed of him was when he was with everyone but Elena. That's when his character's interesting to me.
