I think Stefan is the character that has got away with the most so far. Damon always has to pay his bills one way or another, he can't breathe without getting grief from somebody these days. Very true! If anyone needs to pay for their sins it is Stefan and he never does. I don't even get how JP thinks Damon needs all this at this point after all this time and how far he's come. It seems so manufactured to create the BD storyline to me.

You got to love some of the responses on the thread from Stefan stans being, can you not humiliate/discriminate against one character or where are all the times Damon did this and worse? Like they never actually acknowledge any of the stuff Stefan does even though this is real canon things that take place, not some made up headcanons like they do with taking and twisting Damon's words and actions. And they usually just resort to, 'LOL but Damon has done worse or write up all the things Damon has done.' Um why? We're talking about Stefan, not Damon.
Can Stefan's character not stand on his own two feet? Why are you using Damon's character as the standard for what Stefan can/can't do? Bottom line is he likes to toot his own horn about how righteous and the 'good brother' he is yet he has many actions that contradict this. Damon on the other hand doesn't lie about who he is or make excuses for his behavior and going around proclaiming he's one thing yet doing the opposite. In essence he's not being a hypocrite.
Though I feel like the reason it's so easy to brush over things like this when it comes to Stefan or why some fans don't even acknowledge it, is because the writing itself doesn't. Stefan gets away with everything, he doesn't get punished for mistakes, characters excuse him or stay silent while the opposite happens with Damon, everyone blaming him for every little thing and all of Damon's mistakes are blasted in our face while Stefan gets brushed over. JP literally treats her characters like mouthpieces to recite the same song and dance of Stefan being pure and good and Damon being the bad and evil brother.
The writing is biased towards Stefan. And no one can tell me that it isn't cause there's countless proof in the show to prove Stefan's treatment verses every other character in the show. Elena, Damon, Caroline, Bonnie, Matt, literally every character but Stefan has been told off or had their mistakes blasted in their face by some character or another. Stefan remains the only character on the show who's always right and is never wrong and when he is, it gets blamed on some other character, usually Damon.

Well at least we wont have to deal with that anymore now that the show is ending but you are so right. The few times Stefan gets told off it's fine almost immediately. He leaves town and sleeps with Valerie, no big deal, right? If it were my boyfriend it would as hell be a big deal. Yet Caroline got over it almost instantly. That's not even in character for her. She tends to be jealous. But whatever, we have gone on forever about how slanted the writing is in Stefan's favor but nothing ever changes and I fully expect him to get the bestest ending ever, probably the only wedding that actually happens right for tvd. While who knows what she will do with Damon. The thing that always stumps me is that she is the one writing it and overseeing it yet she doesn't even seem to understand what's been written and why people see it the way they do (ie Delena fans). Did she do it in her sleep? Does she have a split personality? I mean what is the deal with that? I guess we will never know...

Did she do it in her sleep? Does she have a split personality? I mean what is the deal with that? I guess we will never know... Hah and then of course, Valerie who was jealous of Caroline all season and her relationship with Stefan to the point she made her skin vervain so they wouldn't touch, also pretty much brushed off Stefan writing letters to Caroline behind her back despite being with her at that moment. Then having the smoothest break up ever by giving him her blessings for Caroline and stating how she knows Stefan loved her, 'in his own little way', literally making him guilt free of anything. It's ridiculous at times how Stefan gets off easy, but like you said, we could go on forever. And yeah I agree, I don't get how JP is writing this story, yet seems it in a completely different way. How do us Damon fans put together this well written analysis/manifesto of Damon's development and have everything just fall in line with natural progress/development from season to season and come out with this fully complicated and layered character and yet when JP talks about Damon, she has said none of the sort in regards to Damon's character, talked about none of the struggles or psyche of character to the extent that we've seen Damon fans write long essays on. She seems him as any other typical anti Damon fan that everything he does is wrong and he should be constantly seeking forgiveness from characters on the show. It's like hello, you wrote him that way? Why are you so confused as to why people have fallen in love with Damon's character or why he's so popular in the fandom when you've made him out to be this tragic hero who everyone wants to get a happy ending finally? I'll honestly never understand show writers who will post on their social media or something, 'I don't get why this character is so popular!' or something. Here's an idea, how about reading what you've wrote?

She's a real life ripper herself...lol j/k but yeah maybe...lol She talks about how she 'must have been drunk' when she did or said something and it sounds like she drinks a lot.

Stefan really is a loathesome character. Caroline and him are perfect for each other. I used to be able to tolerate Caroline, but she has become completely intolerable, just like Stefan.
