Just now noticing this thread and I will definitely begin to get cozy in here as summer rolls in! Doppel and Sweet I like the insight and reasons you put into your answers for the specific questions you chose! Pretty much on the same wavelength with most of those questions lol. And Sweet really nice concept for a thread! Definitely something fun and enjoyable to bide our time till season 5 starts up. Cant wait for your insight Anbu!!! =) |

What was the best DE makeup? THIS: Which led to this: So sweet!!!! I'm still thinking of mine. I think I know what I want but this one comes very close and I mean close in second. I love his face as he realizes it will take a long time for her to forgive him and here he was dying. She used to be so "annoyed" with him. All he ever did was try to save her. Makes me kinda sad for him. Season 2 was a great and very sad season to be a DE. We saw so much promise but had so much heartbreak. |

@sweet Yep and jumped straight into the mother of all questions, so to speak lol
@doppel I also had that thought. She was certainly out of the, 'I don't know.' mentality in regards to her feelings for Damon. But like you said she never did look back at Stefan after that. There was no struggling and her being confused about her feelings as the season continued.The finale wasn't about making a choice between the brothers. Damon was always her choice. Ever since she uttered out that one word, 'You.'. in 4x07. She wanted a future with Damon. Of course it sucks that the sire bond was hanging over our heads for most of the season and it was hard to enjoy all these signs and moments properly but that's all water under the bridge now.

Now when she said her head was clear I always thought she meant from the hunter curse. Like she can finally think straight. But I like your interpretation too Anbu. And Doppel about Stefan and the band-aid. See I don't think this was when Elena realized she was falling for Damon. I think this is when Elena finally overwhelmed by the fact that he saved her in a time where she felt so lost she finally allowed herself to feel what she has always felt. It's like a cup with water inside and it's almost about to spill over. You add one more drip and over the glass it goes. I think he cup was getting full and then he saved her and it all just spilled over. She wasn't scared about the cup spilling anymore. =0

What is their most heartbreaking scene/moment?
So this one I think you are all going to go REALLY SWEET? But honestly I think I'm thinking of this question as a fan. What was my most heartbreaking scene. It could easily be season 3 finale. That finale broke my heart. It could be when Elena lost her humanity. I can choose some really heartbreaking scenes but this one man it killed me. Like stab in my heart killed me.
Why did this kill me? Why was it so heartbreaking? Well before this happened Stefan basically used Damon's love to go rescue his girlfriend knowing good and well that Damon loved her too and both could potentially die. But then we have Damon coming in here like a rock star killing it. Like really killing it. He took a huge dagger and staked Elijah. Then Damon thinks Elena is coming to him and insert Stefan the big old C blocker. LOL And all Damon got for risking his life for the girl he loves was a whispered "thank you".
His face and then how she held on to Stefan. It made me sick honestly!

What is your all time favorite DE scene?
That's easy for me ~ 2x8 where Damon tells Elena he loves her, compels her to forget & then gives her back her necklace. I cried like a baby the first time I saw this scene & still cry to this day if I see it or hear the words as a voice over in another video!
Why do I like it so much?! Well I think it came as a shock to me & the acting is raw & emotion filled. I love the way Damon's voice changes on the line "why you can't know this" & the way it's filmed is beautiful! When Damon sheds a tear so do I (every time!)...He clearly came back to bring Elena her necklace because its important to her & Stefan originally gave it to her, it's not like it was initially a present from Damon, the fact he stopped & retrieved it because he knew Elena would miss it/want it back (that's not selfish) & I don't think what he tells her is selfish either.
I also love that this scene is used when Elena is a vampire & regaining her memories of what she was compelled to forget, I love that she looks in on this interaction & sees Damon's true feelings cos they're all laid bare in that one short scene...that's why in hindsight I don't think it's selfish! At the time he thinks he's selfish for telling her but counters that by compelling her to forget although he wishes she didn't have to, at the time in 2x8 nobody was to know Elena would be a vampire eventually! She was too important to everybody as the doppelgänger.
The song lyrics that go with this scene sing "I was wrong" and I think they mean Damon was wrong to compel Elena to forget rather than wrong for telling her he loves her...it's just too much & causes me emotional overload...I love it!

When do you think TVD was heading in the direction of DE?
Right from the start ~ Bonnie saw at the bonfire (in the Pilot episode when she touched the bottle Elena was holding) "a crow, fog & a man" ~ clearly Damon & nobody even knew of Damon in MF yet & Elena hadn't met Damon yet...:0) obviously a lot of story lines had to be put in between then & the season 4 finale (lol) but I think it was pre-determined from there, they just had to get there (which was the fun part) :0) I've always thought DE's love is a long burning one...soul mates perhaps?!

I would also say that 3x22 was one of the most heartbreaking DE scenes ever. Damon gets left to die alone in a warehouse thinking he was never loved. That was pretty darn bad! But, for me the first and most heartbreaking scene for me was in 3x14. Why? Because up until that point I believed that Elena truly loved Damon in her heart. I had so much hope until that point and 3x14 destroyed it for me. She betrayed him in so many ways in that one episode. First, it was a dance episode so naturally we all assumed DE would have a great moment. Instead what we got was Elena having Stefan snap Damon's neck. After he had been treated so badly for the JNSI she did the same thing to him?! How dare she! Damon was only trying to protect her like he always did and she made it seem like a bad thing! Not only that but she tricked him into going to that room and both she and Stefan betrayed him, the two people he trusted most. God I hated Stefan so much in this scene with his smug little assholeio face feeling like a big man for blindsiding his own brother! :
But the worst of all was her saying, "Maybe that's the problem," after he said he loved her. What? I wanted to scratch her eyes out right there and then. How could she do that to my Damon? I had trusted her with his heart. How could she?!
I ranted so much on the board and you guys put up with me I'm still not over that episode. It dashed my hopes for DE in a huge way. It was the first time I felt hopeless about them. I'm still not over it! Elena never apologized for it either. The only satisfaction I got out of that episode was at the end where Damon takes out Kol's Original punk ass, being misunderstood for it AGAIN and then walks out on them like a boss and leaves their asses behind and at that point I wanted him to keep on walking.

@doppel I forgot that one. That was one heartbreaking scene for us DE's man! Yes that is at the top of my list. I think I forgot it because it hurt so much that i have pushed it out of my brain. If I forget it happened then it never happened right?

I almost cried watching the videos that Doppel posted ~ I'm far too over emotional lately...especially the one where Elena says "that's the problem then" (or whatever she says to that effect!) what a biatchhh! If you don't want Damon to care about you he can care about me!!! :0) don't be such an ungrateful person Elena ~ had me shouting at my screen earlier...

I'm working my way through Season1 & noticing a lot of things I didn't the 1st time round...:0) loving the DE friendship/beginning to care scenes <3 Yeah, they really took their time with DE and were very thorough. I think if the fans weren't getting restless they would have put it off at least until late season 5, but they lost a chunk of the fanbase after 3x22 and more were slowly dwindling away during season 4 so I think they felt like they had to speed up DE some. It really WAS taking too long. Now that it's here it doesn't seem so bad but isn't that always the way? What gets me is reading SEs saying that DE was contrived and 'came out of thin air' and I'm thinking, did you fast forward through all the DE or what? How could they think such a thing? There is SO much DE and such careful planning and plot as they work their way toward each other that it isn't even funny. Whereas we had Stelena together by episode 2 and having sex by episode 10. There was no build up or foundation to that relationship happening. It was just there for all that time and nothing ever changed except to start going downhill in seasons 3 and 4. That was the contrived relationship of the two of them. I don't even really get how anyone could care about them when there was no build up at all to it and no depth. I never did. |
