I also have a bit of a hiatus question. Although I'm thinking more in the long road, maybe mid/end season 5. But anyways going back to the metaphor of DE being the close knit pair, what do you guys think is something that could potentially break DE up/cause them to split for a while? lol yes it's something I'm sure we don't want to think about although I wouldn't put it past the writers to give DE this huge blowout where we're asking the will they/will they not find their way back together question. I can also see DE having an 'unofficial' phase where neither of them knows whether they're still boyfriend/girlfriend. Like I've said before I can deal with the angst/drama to keep things interesting as long as they don't have some OOC 'stupid' fight that's there just to break them up when it's something they could have easily talked through. ...so it's going to have to be something huge in my eyes! They're both very big on trust & loyalty so I think that would have to be tested to the extreme to cause a break up... I can see a situation like that and it'd also be sort of one of those where the character 'doesn't have the information the viewer does' type thing and they don't fully understand the action of the other. Like in 4x23 where Elena was persistent in Damon taking the cure once his life was threatened and he kept on refusing to the point that Elena wanted to force it on him and couldn't understand why he was being so casual with his life instead of taking the cure. Of course Elena wasn't there for all those scenes we had of Damon being determined to give Elena the cure no matter what. Although it'd be interesting to see how DE would handle disagreements like that now that they are a couple. Who knows maybe they'd develop these habits like, 'Oh no Elena's standing by the fireplace. Looks like she wants to talk.' or 'Damon has his bottle of bourbon and glass in hand something may be troubling him.' I don't know  |

I think they've already got each other's 'tells' down. It's like they already know something is wrong. But their communication skills still suck pretty badly and I think that could be their downfall. One of them will likely misunderstand what the other is doing. There's the possibility that Silas will just come along trying to wreak havoc on them and even though it really makes no sense for Silas to bother with them, you know he will. Otherwise Paul would have nothing to do. Then there's the Katherine thing and her possibly trying to get under Elena's skin which at first she probably won't be bothered too much but then if Damon keeps protecting her it might make Elena feel like he is siding with her and think maybe he does still have feelings for her, which she will talk to ANYONE but Damon about no doubt, like always.

THanks, Dopple. I've been writing between transcribing depos for work. I re-edited the chapters I've recently written to check for errors but you can't catch everything. I'm really enjoying the way it's going. The latest chapters are going to get steamy. Anyway, I'm gonna finish my "real" work and then try to start chapter 9 tonight.
