OK, so I've thought and thought and thought some more about this and what I think of TVD as a whole now. I am really disappointed and I hope that they can somehow give me some ending that satisfies all of the crap and romantic tugs and pulls that Delena has been through this season (and forever, really). What I know is that the finale is supposed to be big and we won't see it coming. I haven't seen any shocking theories circling the web waves (not that I've looked that much, lol) other than Elena taking the cure somehow or just getting memories wiped of the Salvatores or leaving on her own accord. None of that sounds very shocking and unpredictable to me so I hope the writers have come up with something big enough that 1) satisfies my Delena ending and 2) makes me want to come back for season 7. TVD is THE first show I have ever been so invested in and followed up on message boards and other mediums, and because of that, I know I am in it for more than a ship. I love me some Delena, but I am a fan of the show as well. I've put less effort into shows I've seen all the way through when main characters left and my preferred ship didn't work out **cough One Tree Hill cough**. I just know that it is not in my nature to stop watching a show when someone leaves. Usually I'll cut and run when the writing is just too much to handle and the storylines fizz out, like The Office or The OC. With that said, I voted that I am sticking around for Damon. I love his story and really he has been the one that has intrigued me the most about this entire show. I feel like he has the most layers to uncover and he has also evolved the most of any character. I would love for them to go into more of "Who is Damon Salvator" and if he went to TO (unlikely) or a new show, I'd follow him there. If they start doing stupid writing or throwing Bamon in because "with grief comes love" or some kind of crap, then I'm out. The reason you put down because of OTH is the reason why I wont stick around. I was the biggest BRUCAS fan and I stayed and watched her in mediocre relationships that did nothing for me. I cant watch season 7 if it's about Damon moving on or letting go. he is not Damon to me without Elena. It's because of his actions and his own words that have created this mindset within me. If Ian left and there was no Damon hence no Delena I'd still leave! No Delena no Sarah. =) RIP Brucas!!!!

This whole this just reminds me of Peyton Sawyer's quote: "People always leave."

Ian becoming the breakout character over the years, you could have Damon Salvatore reading the phone book and people would probably still tune in.”

Well add this to another 'why' as to my leave of this show. I'm certainly not going to miss showrunner JP's interviews that's for sure. Her idea of 'funny jokes' usually come off more as insulting her audience's intelligence. This kinda tells me that as long as Damon's present and on screen she can do pretty much any lame/out there storyline and people will still watch cause it's Damon.
I'll be glad to get away from this show run by JP/CD who could really care less for their viewing audience. They lie constantly in their interviews, promising that we'll get to experience this or that with a character or pairing only for it to either not happen as much as it's hyped up to be or we get like five minutes of it (like the promise of DE being able to be a happy couple before things hit the fan) before it's back to same old same old annoyingly angsty storyline with no payoff whatsoever.
I remember when JP said that she would make Kai as a villain as unredeemable as possible, that she wanted to try something different than her other villains as Katherine and Klaus (actually she made the same comment in regards to Silas and still gave him a sob back story as to his reasons why he acted the way he did). And despite her promise about Kai, she merged him with Luke, made him constantly feel guilty about what he did and wanting to make things right, then when she has him killed off, she goes on twitter and puts, "Poor Kai is trending. You people are co-dependent enablers of assholes. But that's why we've been on for 6 yrs, so thanks for being you!!"
Not sure what she expected the audience to act like, if she actually kept to her word with making Kai unredeemable and he had kept to his psychotic self, then maybe she would have made more people cheering Bonnie on for getting the revenge on the villain who gave her PTSD instead of countless fans angry and sending hate tweets about Bonnie's character and her killing Kai. It's the same scenario when Elena had killed off Kol and all the fans were at her throat over killing him off despite the fact that she was simply defending herself and her brother from Kol who was hellbent on killing them, but I guess Elena should have just sat back and let Kol kill her brother.
The problem of the show is not 'Elena's character' it's flat out JP's writing. The characters don't act like vampires unless they're humanity switch is flipped off. It's more like a 'vampire switch' honestly. The only one who did was Enzo, and he barely interacted with the cast. It's been so long since Damon's vamped out and how can he? More than half of the cast acts uptight when it comes to being a vampire, they all feed from bloodbags and get guilt tripped by other characters when they do feed. When someone's humanity is off and they feed off of someone it's made out to be such a 'Ooh so shocking! Look at how bad she is by feeding off of someone!'
I also find it ironic how people complain about the show revolving around Elena so much and yet when people show their grief and disappointment at Elena leaving the show and how she's the heart of it, people come out of the woodwork to counter that by saying the show isn't always about Elena. This season in particular Elena's character got focus in like two episodes in the beginning as they covered her grief over losing Damon, after that she got compelled, then her arc got shoved in the background. Caroline's character got more focus and story than Elena this season. Likely in preparation for her to take over Elena's role. It's actually kind of sad that it took Elena's character leaving for the writers and JP to move Caroline from the plot device she's been for the last two seasons (mouthpiece for the triangle, hating on DE and Damon and praising Stefan who can do no wrong and was the number one SE cheerleader) to her being able to have Caroline actually see Stefan as a character with flaws and focus on her obvious feelings she's had for him since season 1. I always wondered why suddenly NOW this season Steroline got focus but the cat's out of the bag now. If she could hardly treat Elena's character right when it came to writing decently, I don't know why Caroline as the lead will be any different.
She also ran a great couple straight into the ground. Never truly giving us DE cause she thinks couples being happy is boring. So instead she throws out these countless annoying roadblocks, most of them being recycled storylines with a new twist thrown in the way, repeating the same arguments that were put down seasons ago. Haters of Delena want to talk about how boring DE has gotten, well news flash us fans of DE certainly weren't having a field day over these countless roadblocks of will they won't they storylines either. The declining ratings should be subject to that. Even Steroline is being written quite oddly. Their first sex scene together being when their humanity is off? How much sense does that make? Well at least DE's weren't the only ones who got screwed over for their first sex scene either. Season 7 is just going to be in for both Stefan and Caroline's characters being broody and sorry and awkward. Caroline even more so once she turns it on and realizes all the people that she harmed and killed for turning ripper Stefan's humanity off. We'll see how long it will be till fans start complaining about JP's writing for Steroline or how Caroline's character will go from being lovable, strong female lead to 'Uh she's so whiny and annoying!'.
I could actually go on and on about the writing but this is why I rather just take my exit this season. I'm obviously not having any fun or enjoyment from these series anymore so why subject myself to sit through something I know I'll just be pissed off at?

That's about when he really stepped out of it and we did stick by loyally hoping for our payoff someday, some way. We may be leaving empty handed.

Though my rants/disappointments will be only till the rest of the season, I won't rag on people's enjoyment of season 7 as it airs, that'd be ridiculous lol. I'm still holding out for DE getting a proper close to their chapter come finale though and I hope the writers deliver so I can leave the show on a happy note.

I think every DE is. We waited a long time for our couple to actually get to be happy for more than 5 seconds and it never happened and if it happens in these last episodes it will not even be something we can enjoy...irony at it's best.

To be fair if she leaves Delena could be kept for end game. Actors and actresses leave shows all the time only to be in last episode or 2 so like say season 7 or 8 or 9 are the end. Elena could still show up to go off in to the sunset with Damon.

We wanted to actually see Delena happy and settled and interacting as a happy couple does and we got very little of that. In fact I don't think they were settled at all except for right before they died together! I mean what is that? Then Elena erases her memories so they can't fully enjoy their relationship then either and this was AFTER knowing that Nina was leaving so they still didn't give us one lousy season of happy Delena after winning them multiple awards as a fanbase. I really think we deserved at least that when they knew she was going to be out of there and what would it have hurt this season? It makes you wonder if they couldn't stand to be anywhere near each other and that's why we got so little Delena for quite a while now. It really does, no matter what they might say about their reasoning for such a crappy end to Delena.

Yes as Doppel stated, it was also the journey of these characters that was important to us. Not everyone automatically started off as a DE fan. It didn't start with all the grand speeches or moments. They were won over by the carefully crafted love story of these two characters, the slowburn of this tragic love story where it always seemed the odds were against them. We rooted for this story to get its happy ending.
Along the way the writing faltered, due to the writers no longer caring about the story of the characters and consistent development and more, 'How can we drag this triangle out and keep striging both fandoms?' There were quite a few DE moments that were OOC, made no sense as to why they would take one step forward and then three back. We always had to come up with excuses for the writers, that this was some test that DE just HAD to overcome before they could truly be happy together.
Damon's character was sacrificed a lot for the sake of dumb shock value moments. Things that made you go, 'Wait why would such and such a scenario set him off to do all these things when this worser moment back in season whatever only earned us a drink bourbon by the fireplace type scenario?' or 'How could he always instantly recognize Kat in these instances and suddenly now he was fooled by her?' It was hard to even keep track of canon or consistent development whenever situations arose like, 'Oh well in two seasons ago Damon really struggled with this but now he's-' cause you never knew when JP would retcon Damon for no reason at all for 'shock value'.
Alternatively Elena's character was sacrified for the sake of keeping a triangle alive that had the realistic development to end in season 3. Every season her voice got less and less and other characters spoke for her. She was never written to defend herself against stupid claims like Stefan saying they broke up cause she slept with Damon when it happened AFTER. Also Stefan could do no wrong in this relationship, things like him nearly running off the bridge with her, the same way her parents died, never got brought up by the characters or Elena. She was never allowed to speak bad about Stefan or defend Damon from Caroline/Bonnie mean girl sessions when she knew otherwise.
So yes along the way DE's journey became a hot mess that we had to force ourselves to accept as 'canon' and just typical roadblocks.
But what's the point of an endgame where the Damon and Elena we grew to love are just some really weird OOC versions of themselves? A cookie cutter Elena who would have never left Damon in the first place and a Damon who would search to the ends of the earth if Elena was ever missing and not just 'hanging around town'. Stefan outright left town when Elena choice Damon so why would Damon's reaction, who states 'You are my life' to Elena have a slap on the wrist reaction compared to that?
Delena breaking up again is OOC and stupid after everything they went through this season, heck the entire show. They need to make Delena endgame THIS season and next season come up for an excuse as to why Elena's not there like she's taking up a lot of classes to catch up on her medical studies and during the season have Damon recieve phonecalls an 'update' us on Elena so it doesn't seem like she stupidly disappeared off the face of the planet. It'd still be dumb writing but Nina is gone so not much else you can do about that.
What reason do they care to break up Delena anyways and not give them a happy endgame? To keep Damon 'open and available' so as to fanbait Bamon and string that relationship along? I guess we'll see of the writers ever really cared about the integrity of their characters and storytelling when we see how they wrap up these final episodes along with Delena.

Well as I've said many times here if they decide to forget Delena loved each other to the extent that Damon told Elena, "You are my life," and instead went in the direction of Bamon I would not be here to see it so for me it would not ever exist in my world, just saying....and I actually did a little impromptu poll of my own of people I know all over the internet who are Delena fans and found that only about 5% of Delena fans plan to stick around to see what happens and even that 5% will probably drop if Bamon were to become a reality. That means a whole lot of Delena fans have stated they are done with the show since Delena will most likely essentially be over and I think that means TVD will not make it very far into season 7 unless they find a way to retain those fans. The ratings will become embarrassingly low and the show will eventually just end up cancelled. After all these are the same fans that won Delena poll after poll for years. It is no small fanbase.

Not so much to add to any of this but I do have a few thoughts that I need to vent: 1. Mourning what could have been. In answering the question about will I watch S7, I started a depressing downward spiral. DE has been tainted due to a number of reasons, all of which have been mentioned here. Miss Mystic's happy version of what could happen on the DE relationship thread has given me a glimmer of hope, but then I quickly realized she is a better story teller than JP&Co. Regardless of what "epic-ness" they give us in next few episodes, they screwed up the potential of this couple. And I mourn that. 2. Anger. This is the part I cannot seem to let go of -- Real-life events keep crashing into the story-telling of this show and I hold them all accountable. The actors of Penny and Leonard on Big Bang Theory dated and broke up in real life and she got remarried shortly after, but you wouldn't know that from BBT. I understand it is a different genre, but they still are in many scenes together. Further, you can't discern where any of those events took place in BBT, because it never impacted the SL. In TVD, you can point to it specifically. I am still suffering from S5 PTSD and "toxic" SL. And that someone (JP? CD?) wrote that "Katherine" would delete RL photos of NIAN on the TVD, and tptb approved that is just screwed up, imo. They could have gone a hundred different ways but deliberately chose to give that scene precious screen time. Ian gives a bazillion interviews about his directorial debut and every single one mentions Bamon, a pairing that doesn't exist and that CD said would not exist, because he like to act with Kat Graham. Shut up already. EOnline is spoon-fed story that ND would be leaving even if she were still with Ian -- because yes, if they were together after 5-6 years, she would definitely have packed her bags and moved to LA to pursue movie career instead of stay for one more lucrative year with her boyfriend? That makes total sense. A crew member breaks the news that ND is leaving on Instagram? WTF. Remember when Andie's actor got fired for some minor spoiler? FF to today and crew member will probably be promoted to head writer. I thought JP said she was spoiler police? No one is in control of this show; no one cares, except for we, the fans.

It really does, no matter what they might say about their reasoning for such a crappy end to Delena. I agree on wanting to see them happier. I loved Delena untill they were together then felt it was meh. It was not handled well. I think part of the issue why it felt bad is the other big couple that won awards too of Stelena is the only time she felt happy in a couple. But I feel personally end game is best as as couple they cant be happy for one reason, Damon. Don't get me wrong I think he deserves happyness but he's a similar character to say spike from Buffy. When spike was "happy" he was really boring to watch (thats from a spuffy fan and spike fan) however when he put his coat back on and was bad ass again he was cool again because there are lots who want to see that. That's why a big thing I noticed during panels is they keep saying "we are going to bring damon back to how he was in season 1 and 2" because there are a lot of Delena fans but there is more Damon fans. Damon fans a lot want to see neck snappy , drinking , snarky damon not whimpy "I love you" Damon. Which I think is part of the issue overall is the show wants every ship to feel equally valid yet also every character to be at their best. The fanbase in large is also really hypocritical. Stelena fans "Booooo we cant see Elena with anyone else we will stop watching cause she's with damon" Delena fans "Thats silly Damon and Elena have something plus it's really petty to not watch due to us getting our ship" ..... Skip to 2015 Delena fans " Booooo we cant see Damon with anyone else we will stop watching cause he's going to be with bonnie" Bamon fans "Thats silly Damon and Bonnie have something plus it's really petty to not watch due to us getting our ship" ..... I can not be the only person who sees this irony right? lol But end game works best for Delena as everyone wins. Want Bad ass damon? coo;l you got him till final , Want Delena? in final you get it and they can make books and comics about them after and you can talk about how you see the future. Want Bamon? you can get them till the very end. It's almost IMO so perfect the writers wont do it lol But end game is a great place for happy ever afters to me.

Yeah sure but end game isn't the only thing we wanted to see. What awards did Stelena win other than most boring couple cause I don't know of any...just saying....and as of today there is no Bamon. Will they ever be? Maybe, maybe not, but right now it's just hype, but no, I won't watch it if there is and guess what? That's my prerogative. I will watch as long as the show still makes me happy and I won't when it doesn't and I don't care if anyone agrees with my decision, not Delena or non-Delena fans because both have their own opinions but my decision is mine alone as it is everyone else here. Some plan to quit watching before others. Some will keep watching and I respect everyone's decisions though I wish we all could still get enough happiness out of the series to continue to keep watching it together. I know that's not looking very possible at this point and with about a 90-95% group of Delena fans saying they are done after 6x22 I doubt there will be a show to watch much beyond that even if I am one who tries to stick it out. People are fooling themselves if they think the Delena fans do not make up the vast majority of the fanbase that has still been watching these days, but I guess we'll see what happens. Part of the reason I believe they will leave Delena dangling as the possible end game is because I think tptb know that is the case and they will want to keep them watching regardless of the end game.
I also disagree strongly that Elena was only happy with Stefan. I would go further to say that she settled on Stefan because he felt safe to her and Damon was not the safe choice even though she loved his in 3x01 by her own admission. She also never promised Stefan forever and she sideskirted the idea of them being human together as well. In other words she never saw them together forever, period, but she said all of those things to Damon. This has all been debated before though and it's frankly moot because in the end she choose Damon over Stefan so Stelena is so done, stick a fork in it.

I just remember season 1 + 2 they got "best couple" on those awards that fans vote on.But that was not the point of the post Like said I don't like Stelena but I know others do and I just feel objectively the fans of that one got treated badly for the same exact thing Delena fans are doing now. I have seen posts on twitter and boards where delena fans are literally bullying and offering death threats to Bamon fans which is never cool I was just looking at it fairly was all. Sorry if I offended you by doing so
